An evacuation flight is an urgent flight arranged when an area is about to be struck by a natural disaster such as a major storm or earthquake. Any departure from a region facing an imminent or recent natural disaster qualifies as an evacuation flight. These emergencies include:
- Storms
- Hurricanes
- Tsunamis
- Earthquakes
- Volcano eruptions
Following such events, airports are typically closed; NGOs might be granted access, but standard private jet charters cannot enter. These airports reopen once emergency supplies have arrived and relief efforts are in progress. At this point, many people seek evacuation – and that’s where we can assist.
Unfortunately, some brokers exploit these situations, but at Insijets, we maintain our commitment to not increasing prices due to natural disasters. Our goal is to assist those in need, not to take advantage of them. We strive to provide our high-quality service responsibly and fairly.
We aim to help everyone in need of evacuation during emergencies, from individuals to pets.
How has Insijets assisted during natural disasters?
In 2011, Insijets was highlighted in the New York Times for our role in rescuing a couple – including a pregnant woman – after an earthquake. The region was also under the threat of radiation contamination.
With airports closing, we needed to act swiftly. We secured an aircraft to evacuate them from the danger zone for $75,000; as noted in the Times, other companies were charging $125,000. The operation was successful, and the couple escaped safely.
Another instance is when Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico. We conducted around 17 evacuation flights out of the region within a few days. Additionally, we coordinated many flights for NGOs and transported rescue dogs abandoned in the aftermath of natural disasters.
